RVF launched the first public water desalination system in North Gaza, located at the Al-Shati Refugee Camp. The press release can be found here.Though most of North Gaza has now been evacuated, the remaining community members continue to operate and sustain the desalination system.
The system produces 1,000 liters of potable water per hour and will serve about 6,000 individuals. Its solar-powered electrical system is free from reliance on gas-fueled generators. This was the first public drinking water system of its kind in North Gaza. Al-Kofiya, a prominent Palestinian news organization, featured the opening of the site in the video linked here (in Arabic).
RVF’s is committed to help alleviate Gaza’s humanitarian crisis. Thanks to support from the UAE and working in partnership with the Kuwaiti Specialty Hospital in Khan Younis, RVF has provided safe drinking water to nearly 200,000 individuals in southern Gaza, equating to 10% of the total population.
