RVF began working in Egypt in 2021 to study rotavirus disease prevalence in Egyptian children aged 5 years old and younger. The baseline study of rotavirus prevalence was completed in cooperation with Dr. Mohamed Shaheen, of the Virology Laboratory of the Egyptian National Research Center, with preliminary sample collection by Nile University. The results were recently published in the Egyptian Journal of Pharmacology. This program is in preparation for the universal introduction of Rotavirus vaccine for Egyptian children. A comparison study will be conducted after the introduction of the rotavirus vaccine.
